- Grade II listed building
- owned by Alderman Fletcher Moss
- building & gardens left by him to citizens of Manchester in 1919
- now a thriving community hub run by Didsbury Parsonage Trust
- significant & picturesque setting
- exhibition space x3 picture galleries

THE HISTORY = Fletcher Moss Gardens
- The Old Parsonage is 2nd oldest building in Didsbury
- date from 1650
- opposite St James Church lived in by only two ministers until 1865
- Moss family lived there as tenants & bought it in 1884 for £4,000
- In 1915 Fletcher Moss gifted the house & gardens to the City of Manchester
- he lived there till he died in 1919
- layout of the gardens designed by Fletcher Moss & his mother
- large number of ornamental trees planted by head gardeners of City Council
- the tree lawn was once a walled kitchen garden
- the Alpine house (once a greenhouse)has been recently renovated by the friends group
- the garden entrance has a stone arched gate topped by sculpture of an eagle
- eagle was rescued by Fletcher Moss from the Spread Eagle Hotel which he once owned
- many of his dogs and reputedly even his horse are buried there
- the city used it as an offshoot of the City Art Gallery
- in 1862 paintings were removed & building used as offices by Council Housing dept
- boarded up in 2011
- rescued by Didsbury Civic Society & then by Didsbury Parsonage Trust used as a community centre
- with £ Lottery funding & other £ sources was totally refurbished
- now a thriving resource for the local community
- care & maintenance of gardens been taken up by the Friends who are an active band of dedicated volunteers
