Zen  means action with awareness.  It is a determination to not be clouded by negative thoughts, the ability to regroup & not dwell on missed opportunities. Clearly defined routines are important … they help to clear the mind so there is less chance of outside influences affecting your thinking or the different golf shots & situations that you will encounter during your game. A positive mindset from the start will boost your game, create freedom from anxiety & doubt and help you become free from tension & internal chatter.  Before you play or before the next hole try to avoid thinking about what you don’t want to do.  Mental exercises will accentuate the positive thought processes because mental obstacles affect the realisation of potential and result in performance anxiety, emotional reactions & distractions. The secret to lower scoring is to use your mind in order to calm yourself & avoid mental mistakes … to reduce frustration & increase consistency.
